I'm Nora, a home cook and recipe creator living in Nashville, Tennessee, with a very opinionated cat and a spice cabinet that is objectively too large for the space available.
I spent a decade working in marketing before I admitted to myself that what I actually wanted to do was cook things and then talk about them at length.
My approach to food has always been relaxed but never careless: I want every dish to have real flavor and a reason for existing, but I also believe cooking should fit into your actual life rather than take it over.
I love a project recipe on a slow Saturday as much as I love a fifteen-minute weeknight dinner that does not taste like compromise. If I had to distill everything I believe about cooking into a single idea, it would be this: flavor is not a reward for effort, it is the whole point.
My Expertise
I built my cooking skills the way most people do: slowly, imperfectly, and with a fair number of dinners that were quietly slid into the trash before anyone else had to witness them. No culinary school, no professional kitchen background. Just years of cooking constantly, paying close attention to what worked and what did not.
Before any recipe makes it onto this site, I test it multiple times under real conditions, which means a normal home oven with its particular quirks, grocery-store ingredients, and the kind of limited prep time most people are actually working with.
My Journey
MyTastyCook started when I finally ran out of excuses not to do it. I had been cooking seriously for years, keeping notes in the margins of recipes, texting friends photographs of dinners and the instructions to make them, and generally behaving like someone who was already running a food site without the actual site part. So I built one.
The early days were a learning curve in basically every direction: writing, photography, figuring out what I actually wanted to say and to whom. But the more I published, the clearer my purpose became. I stopped just writing down what I cooked and started genuinely thinking about how to help people cook it themselves.
